Yes, I'm 33. No, my spring break is not perfunctory. But Aidan's is and I took nine days off work to coincide.
Funny conversation from this morning after Aidan and I woke up late:
Aidan: Where's dad?
Me: I assume he's at work.
Aidan: But it's spring break!!
LOL. Poor kid doesn't realize spring break doesn't last forever (for some people…).
So here's the plan:
The weekend before:
The Saturday and Sunday preceding spring break consisted of playing with friends, soccer game, church, a family birthday celebration, and a fabulous, kid-friendly cocktail party at Joelle's house (i.e. started at 6:00 and was over by 9:00). We had such a wonderful time at Joelle's that I am replicating the cocktail party idea at my house next month.
Taking summer cocktail suggestions. If you have a good one, kindly leave it in the comments area |
Actual Spring Break Week:
Today is the Monday of spring break, and we are leaving to go to the crater at Homestead in just a few minutes. Christine and Jodi found a Groupon and we are doing this today for the low, low price of $20:
The crater at Homestead. I'm sure this is an all-rights reserved photo but I stand behind the 4-factor test |
Tomorrow, weather permitting, my goal is to take Aidan to Secret Lake, which is about an hour from our house to go hike and play. Secret Lake is supposed to look like this and be very kid-friendly:
Wildflowers! |
Wednesday, we hope to visit the Natural History Museum (no photo required, we all know what dinosaur bones look like) once again on a killer Groupon deal.
Thursday and Friday, Aidan's bio-dad is in town and is taking Aidan skiing. Who is the luckiest kid ever?
Weekend after Spring Break: Easter!! Our decorations are up, the neighborhood Easter egg hunt is planned, and our hippie church has their Easter/ Earth Day celebration ready to go (my church seriously needs its own blog post).
In case you're not keep track, this is my first Utah spring. I moved here June 18th last year and it was already over 100 degrees every day so I plan on soaking up the 60-80 degree window as much as possible. At least this summer I have air conditioning in my car. Oh wait, I don't.
Happy Spring Break!!
I'm looking forward to the party in May :)
