24 week status: Feeling great. Shockingly great. Pregnancy shouldn't feel this great. Something must be wrong.

Bump at almost 24 weeks |
|
Tight dresses make me look more pregnant. Which is a good thing. |
Symptoms: Sleeping 9 hours a night, lots of baby kicks, and a little clumsiness. Pregnancy brain is starting to kick in. I went to work without a bra the other day because I forgot to put one on. Thank goodness I was wearing multiple layers. Because AWKWARD.
Weight gain: 15 pounds exactly. Is that a lot? Feels like a lot with 16 weeks left to go. My mom always said she gained 18-20 pounds with her pregnancies. Apparently that gene passed me by. Still, I am well aware it could be worse. I gained almost 30 pounds with Aidan and I'm on track for the same this time around.
Home Updates: We replaced the galvanized pipe in the basement last week and cut the window down so Aidan could escape if there was a fire. The framing has started in Aidan's room. I'm pleased with the progress but still thinking we're cutting it close. We hope to move Aidan downstairs by August 1st so we can have the nursery done by mid-September. Plus, I need to move everything out of the guest bedroom for my mom and dad who will likely be visiting for my baby shower in September and again once Ziggy gets here in October (yay!).

Visual update of Aidan's room to be completed August 1st |
I have totally abandoned the idea of doing yard work this year. I've learned something about myself since moving to Utah. I don't like yard work. If I had an infinite amount of time, I would probably enjoy it, but it feels like such a burden after work and caring for Aidan and the house. I have tried so hard to at least keep my planter box pretty but after multiple trips out of town and consistently hot weather, even my trusty planter box flowers are dying on me. In my lottery fantasies, I imagine hiring a landscape architect to build me a new porch, a new deck, a water feature, and lots of easy to maintain xeriscaping. I've been watching a lot of yard crashers lately, and it's giving me yard envy.

More deck, less flowers! |
This week I am going back to the doctor for my 18 week ultrasound redux. Hopefully this time we can see the baby's brain and heart clearly and Aidan manages not to
offend the ultrasound technician.
Speaking of Aidan, he has been awesome about this baby. I know for a fact he is scared to go in the basement alone (he stands at the top of the stairs calling for Stan anytime he goes down there), yet he has not complained once about having to move down there. The other night, he swore up and down he could feel Ziggy kick when I knew she wasn't even kicking on the inside at that moment. He went rocker glider shopping with me the other day, and informed me that would be his new favorite seat in the house. He calls it "our" baby. I never imagined a nine-year-old boy could be so satisfying about the arrival of an infant.

Neon Trees/Fictionists concert at Brent Brown ballpark |

Aidan was being a little punk about going to this concert though. I danced while he played on Robert's phone. #ungrateful |
I would give more of an update on Robert except I have barely seen him in a week. Between me going to bed at 9:00 every night and him working late, we are on totally opposite schedules. On the weekends, he has been working and doing construction on this house. I miss him but appreciate how hard he works for this family. I like realizing that I miss him when he's not around. Being married to your best friend is fun. Everyone should try it. He did, however, sneak away from work to join us for a pool party on Sunday.

Aidan is jumping in the pool. Who's that kid on Robert? |
That's it for this week. Thanks for reading!
