I'm drenched

Many of you read my blog post three weeks ago about my L.A. Baby Shower. I know this because it has become my sixth most viewed blog post ever, just edging out my other recent post about crafting the perfect au pair profile.  Baby showers are apparently a hot topic on this blog.

If my L.A. shower represented my personal history, with most of my relationships at that shower dating back to my childhood, my Salt Lake showers represented the amazing life I've built here and the support system that is going to help me raise this baby. My first Salt Lake shower was thrown by these two lovely ladies:

Beautiful sister-in-law Heather

Next door neighbor/ bestie Christine
These two women started planning my shower pretty much the moment the pee stick went "+" instead of "-". Their baby shower Pinterest board had like 200 pins on it accumulated over seven months. These two take baby showers very seriously. The original baby shower list I gave Heather and Christine was like eleventy million people long because I included all my LA friends and all my work friends on the list. Then sub-baby showers started popping up for me and it cut the guest list for the SLC baby shower down to a reasonable number. Whew, and thank you alternate baby shower planners.

The SLC shower was at Heather's lovely home in North Salt Lake, and my mother-in-law JoAnn cooked all the food for the event including AMAZING phyllo and custard dessert cups. I had like ten. She also made (or maybe Christine did?) these strawberries with cream cheese in them that basically tasted like strawberry cheesecake. I need clarification on who made these so I know who to harass to make them again in the future.

In addition to their lovely decorations, Christine and Heather asked people to write notes for me with words of advice on raising Ziggy. Although the women had loads of good advice, my favorite cards were from two neighborhood girls, Mimi (Age 8) and Abby (Age 9).

"Dear Rebekah, I can tell you a number of things about babies but this card is too small. 8 year olds help a lot such as me. Hugs, Mimi"

"Advice for you. Always give her whatever she wants and let Abby babysit her everyday. Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday."

Allow me to share a few other pictures from the festivities:

Thank you SO MUCH to Heather, Christine, and JoAnn for putting together such a wonderful shower. Salt Lake truly does feel like home, and it's because of the village I have supporting me and my family. The decorations were perfect, the food was delectable, and the special touches made it extra memorable. Even the lattes and chatting post-shower are something I'll never forget.

But I can't stop there! The day after my SLC shower, I had a work shower hosted by Kinza with my Salt Lake library friends. If you've paid attention on this blog you know that Kinza missed her calling as a party planner. She always includes these details like fondant cakes or edible orchids that elevate any occasion. My baby shower was no exception, and it was amazing to spend some time with my lovely coworkers away from the daily stresses of work.

I'm going to let these pictures speak for themselves:

After three baby showers, this baby is set. There are literally two things left on my once exhaustive baby registry. I think Ziggy has more clothes than I do at this point, and I have an entire gigantic closet filled with diapers and wipes.

Seriously, look at all these clothes!

Fancy dresses

Everyday essentials

Thank you, friends and family, for rolling out the welcome mat for this baby. All three of my baby showers were spectacular and such a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends and family. Make sure you come visit the baby!
