This week Aidan's activities included soccer, Halloween prep, and the 4th grade Utah pride program. Personally, this is about the time I start dreading soccer because any given Saturday can be beautiful and sunny or 39 degrees and storming. Utahans don't care; they will play in any conditions while I huddle in my car for warmth. This year the weather has been consistently beautiful, but I refuse to let my guard down. I know cold is right around the corner.
For Halloween, Aidan is going to be Link from the Legend of Zelda. Grandma JoAnn volunteered to make his costume and what she has created would make any cosplay, Comic Con kid green with envy. As someone who can't sew AT ALL, I'm in awe of what Robert's mom can do with a needle and thread.
Aidan finds any excuse to try on his costume since Grandma JoAnn dropped it off. I think I may have to hide it for a week to make sure it stays intact until October 31st.

Aidan also had a small speaking part in his school's 4th grade program on Friday, a performance which has had me humming, "Utah, This is the Place" all week. Aidan nailed the talking and singing part of the program, but was less successful getting his arms through his vest in time as you can see in the video below...
Speaking of school related stuff, Aidan has totally stepped up these past few weeks. Most of the time, getting quality schoolwork out of Aidan is like pulling teeth. Lately, however, Aidan's effort has been so much better, especially his recent submission to the school "Reflections" contest. The theme this year was "Let Your Imagination Fly" and Aidan chose to create a "Constitution of the Nation of Imagine" to submit to the literature category. I was so proud of the creativity and earnestness of his entry.

Last but not least, Aidan has been a stellar big brother to Harper for the past three weeks. He helps with baths and reads her stories. He loves holding her and pushing her in the stroller. He calls her "Harper Baby" and still wears his big brother t-shirt any time it's not in the laundry. One day, I was tired and he volunteered to babysit Harper while I took a nap. I declined but appreciated the offer.

All my dreams of seeing Aidan as a doting big brother are finally coming true. And even though this blog post IS about Aidan, I have to add a few of my favorite Harper photos too, because, yes, I am addicted to this little girl.
