This is how we roll...

I read somewhere that "What did you do today?" is a question that new moms dread because our answers never seem very substantial. Ummm... changed diapers, tried to get the baby down for a nap, did four loads of laundry, binge watched Fixer Upper during nursing sessions. These aren't exactly topics that stimulate dinner conversation. Even though it's hard to articulate, I feel like Harper and I are busy all the time.

Today, for instance, I found out that Harper's favorite book to date is Where is Baby's Belly Button? She would watch intently as I lifted the flaps to show baby's toes and fingers and eyes. At the grand finale of the book, when I revealed all of baby behind the flap, Harper gave me her little baby grin. I couldn't help unveiling the baby five more times before we started the book all over again. For the record, my favorite book today was Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom.

After Harper's morning nap, we drove over to 15th and 15th to pick up a book for Aidan at the King's English bookstore. Luckily, they had the Percy Jackson he wanted in stock so we didn't have to go home empty handed.

Hands down best bookstore in Salt Lake
We also went for a walk around Sugar House Park, and Harper slept as we worked our way around the park. Small amounts of fall leaves were still clinging to the trees but the lake has already started to freeze over. I wondered if Harper would learn to ride her bike in the same spot where Aidan did on the southeast side of the park and if she would like sledding in the park as much as her big brother.

Harper missing the view

We also found this weird cast-bronze statue of a sugar beet.
Like every other day, I gave Harper about ten minutes of tummy time on her activity mat in the afternoon. She didn't get as close to rolling over as she did last night while Aidan and I cheered her on, but she tried really hard to work her way forward on the mat. When I put my hand against her feet, she kicked off them a bit and inched forward infinitesimally. Progress.

Must... move... forward...
Harper and I also had a midday dance party to Taylor Swift's 1989 album, which Harper loves, obviously. I haven't really started working out again, but I figure living room dance parties must count towards the 150 recommended minutes of work out I'm supposed to be doing every week. Harper agrees.

We cooked dinner together, and I narrated my actions for Harper as if I were on a cooking show. She listened intently and now knows how burritos are made.

We had fun at bath time followed by a baby massage and blowing raspberries on her belly.

Well, fun for me.

Was it the busiest, most productive day in the history of mankind? Nope. Am I super excited to do more of the same tomorrow? You bet.
